Never Take Birth Control Again!

It is estimated that 150 million women worldwide take birth control pills. Why?

If women knew the true dangers of birth control pills, would the numbers be so high?  If doctors knew the real dangers of birth control and educated their patients on the risks, would the numbers be so high?  Not a chance.

Sadly, doctors clearly don’t know the devastating risks of birth control. Massive amounts of damage are being caused by handing out these pills like candy and too many heads are turned to ignore the obvious truth.  Unfortunately, this is affecting the lives of numerous women and future generations.

I meet so many women who questioned the use of these pills and were reassured that there was no significant risk. If anyone actually read the full list of side effects of birth control pills, they would be hard-pressed to not be concerned.  Sadly, most doctors are so indoctrinated by the medical system and medical schools to believe the side effects are insignificant and they convince women that taking these pills is perfectly safe.

In a spiritual sense, these women’s stories show that the Lord is gently and urgently telling us to “beware”.  Whether you want to call it a “check” in your spirit, or “intuition”, it is imperative that we begin listening to that still small voice, our instinct to follow our design, and resist the pressure to follow man’s way of synthetic solutions. This goes for vaccines, other pharmaceutical drugs, chemotherapy, radiation, and all the other man-made toxic chemical treatments our society has chosen over the natural creations that our Father in heaven has freely given us.

If you read the following side effects, would you be concerned if your teenager was recommended to take birth control for controlling acne, per the doctor’s orders?  Yet millions do it and unknowingly take a huge risk with their health and livelihood.

Many of these changes occur because of your body’s response to synthetic estrogen:

  •         Larger breasts

  •         Weight gain or loss

  •         Reduced or increased acne

  •         Slight nausea

  •         Emotional sensitivity right before your period

  •         Mood swings throughout your cycle

  •         Irregular bleeding or spotting

  •         Breast tenderness

And even scarier than the “mild” side effects are the serious health risks that accompany birth control pills.  These include:

  •         Increased risk of cervical and breast cancers

  •         Increased risk of heart attack and stroke

  •         Migraines

  •         Higher blood pressure

  •         Gallbladder disease

  •         Infertility

  •         Benign liver tumors

  •         Decreased bone density

  •         Yeast overgrowth and infection

  •         Increased risk of blood clotting

Cancer, heart disease, stroke, infertility.  Surely these side effects make birth control pills a less than desirable option for contraception, and even less desirable for acne.  And now that heart disease has become the leading cause of death among women, one has to wonder if there is a connection between the widespread and long-term use of oral contraceptives, which debuted in 1960... just as the first of the baby boomers were entering their teens.

One of the most disastrous side effects of birth control pills on the body is the destruction of the beneficial bacteria in your intestines, making you more susceptible to yeast overgrowth, lower immunity and infection.  This little known fact is never discussed and unfortunately women are battling yeast overgrowth and yeast infections (candida) that are particularly dangerous to your overall health.

Birth control is synthetic hormone.

Let’s understand how birth control pills work in your body.  Typically, your body ovulates once a month, ripening a new egg that will then journey down a fallopian tube.  Eventually it reaches the uterus, where it would implant, if fertilized.

If not fertilized by a sperm, then the lining of the uterus that had built up in preparation for the fertilized egg is unnecessary.  Both egg and uterine lining leave your body, cleansing your system and preparing for a new month.

When you take birth control pills, you impose synthetic hormones on your natural cycle.

Many birth control pills contain high levels of estrogen that effectively convince your pituitary gland that you are pregnant (this explains some of the side effects of the drugs) and that you don’t need to ovulate.  Because your body thinks you are pregnant, the uterine lining thickens.  Once you start the placebo pills, however, your estrogen level drops suddenly, and your body menstruates “normally”.

This abnormal cycle is what millions of women experience every month, and yet few doctors discuss the consequences of taking these prescriptions year after year.

Is Birth Control Necessary?

Sometimes birth control methods seem necessary for preventing unwanted pregnancies, but I urge you to learn more about other natural options that do not damage your health.  Learn about the fertility signs of a woman and how you can easily chart them to understand your fertile and infertile times.

Feeling irregular? “The words, 'menstruation,' 'moon,' and 'month,' all come from the Greek word for 'measure of time.'  A woman's menstrual cycle runs its course in about twenty-eight days, one lunar cycle.  Periods usually start spontaneously in the week of the full moon in women not using birth control pills or hormone replacement therapy, particularly those with ample exposure to natural daylight and dark cues.”  – Dr. Michael Smolensky, author of The Body Clock Guide to Better Health

Dr. Smolensky’s research showed that the more women used bright lights at night, the less regular their periods.  Our bodies were created to follow the natural flow of light and darkness.  Right in Genesis 1, God created the sun and the moon, two sources of light that were designed to govern much of our lives in this earth.  Yet we have very little understanding of this.  Modern life often brings late nights in bright lights or in front of computers that disrupt the body’s natural light cues.  This throws off our reliance on God’s great and lesser light and disturbs the body’s natural rhythm.  You might find that dimming the lights in your home right after dinner (a tip to help heal adrenal fatigue and help you sleep) also helps regulate your periods!  My wife and I often light candles after dark and turn off all forms of electronic devices and electricity.

If you are taking birth control pills for a reason other than contraception, please reconsider.

Whether you are trying to clear up your skin or ease disruptive and painful PMS, keep in mind that birth control pills are merely addressing the symptoms and are not solving the problem.  Your body is actually trying to tell you something.

Acne may indicate that your colon, lymph and liver need cleansing.  It may be that your hormones are out of balance, that you are not managing stress and/or, that your thyroid and adrenals are fatigued.  Acne is also a common symptom of a yeast infection or candidiasis.

As you can see the underlying cause of something as seemingly simple as acne can be more complex than you might realize.  Although birth control pills may improve your symptoms for a short time, the imbalances in your body and its overall health continues to decline and the risks of oral contraceptives only compound the problem.

There is no condemnation here if you are taking, have taken or thought about taking birth control pills.  Our heart is to educate people about the dangers of choosing man-made solutions to our health over the natural creations of God.  Instead of learning about our own bodies, we have trusted a medical system to offer us sound wisdom and advice.  Sadly, most of it is completely wrong and contrary to God’s design.  It is imperative that we begin to understand our bodies and how God designed us.  We need to learn about our hormones, our natural menstrual cycles, ovulation cycles and fertility.  As we do this we will find that becoming healthy in mind, body and spirit often means getting back to basics and finding ourselves closer to God.
