3 DIY Essential Oil Bath & Body Products

Learn how to make your own bath and body products from ingredients that not only heal the skin but the whole body too. These DIYs are easy to do, extremely cost-effective, and make great gifts or party favors. All the ingredients used below can be found in the Spirit of Health store.


1. Coconut Salt Scrub

  • Ingredients:

  • Directions:

    • Melt coconut oil over a double boiler. Once melted, remove from heat. Add fractionated coconut oil and pink Himalayan salt to melted coconut oil. Stir until combined. Add essential oil. Let sit until coconut oil solidifies, stirring every 10 minutes.

    • Tip: Put in refrigerator to speed up the cooling process. Stir until well combined, and store in an airtight container.

  • To Use: 

    • Rub on skin and rinse with warm water.


2. Whipped Body Butter

  • Ingredients:

  • Directions:

    • Measure all butters and oils in glass jar. Fill a large skillet/saucepan with one to one and a half inches of water. Bring to a boil. Once boiling, add the glass jar to the center of the saucepan to melt and combine ingredients. Stir every few minutes until the ingredients are melted and combined. (10–15 minutes).

    • Tip: Use a popsicle stick to stir for easy cleanup.

    • Once everything is melted, remove from heat and let sit for 5–10 minutes. Add desired essential oils. Once essential oils are added, let it rest in a cool place (such as the refrigerator) until it has set. Once chilled, take out of refrigerator. With a stand or hand mixer, start on low and slowly turn the speed higher until the lotion becomes light and fluffy (around 3–5 minutes).

    • Note: Store mixture in a glass jar and keep in a cool place. If needed, re-fluff the body butter by whipping it back up to the desired consistency with a hand mixture.


3. Face Mask

  • Ingredients:

  • Directions:

    • Combine clay and water in a bowl and stir until well combined. Add essential oils. Make a bigger batch and store in an airtight container for future use.

    • Note: Do not use a metal bowl or spoon with bentonite clay as it can make it less effective.

  • To Use:

    • Apply to clean skin, avoiding the areas around eyes and mouth. Let dry for 5–15 minutes. Rinse with warm water and follow with moisturizer.
