The Foundations of Health

This blog is an introduction to a five-part series on The Foundations of Health. This series aims to help simplify healthy living by breaking it down into five core principles that we believe are biblically based and critical for the health of you and your family.

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth… -Genesis 1:1

God designed a beautiful garden filled with glorious fruits, vegetables, greens, herbs, nuts, seeds, and other plants. He created man and woman and placed them in the garden. The garden provided the habitat needed to be fruitful and multiply, sustain life, and commune with their Creator.

Sadly, we have lost sight of the garden and have chosen the way of man. Even though most of us know we should eat fruits and vegetables, many people still eat processed foods devoid of life. Hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries, barbecue, donuts, candy, pizza, pasta, chips, cookies, ice cream, and other processed foods ultimately bring pain, sickness, and disease to the body. These foods were not found in the Garden of Eden. It was not God's intention that we should ever eat them.

A goal at Spirit of Health is to help people understand the foundations of health, God, and the Garden of Eden. Our children are suffering from the generational effect of eating the wrong foods. We have heard of genetics and its role in health. We are passing down nutritional deficiencies, congestion, and toxicity to our children with every generation, and it continues to worsen.

To reverse this, we must change. We are responsible for changing our genetics. We are accountable for the health of our children. We can do this by choosing God's foods and eliminating man-made foods. We can also incorporate the tools God has given us through His creation to cleanse, detoxify, heal, and regenerate the human body. We are thankful God has designed a body that heals itself, but we must turn back to God to find the truth of how this process begins.

Is it possible with our food choices to "eat it the way God made it?"

This is what we are asking moms, dads, brothers, sisters, and our children to consider. We believe it's possible. In fact, we believe it is an absolute necessity to help us recover our health and return to God! Everyone is in a different place on their health journey. Know that God is for you, and He will direct you as you lean into Him. We desire that Spirit of Health becomes a resource for you as you pursue God's story of restoration for you and your family.
